GARRETT METAL DETECTOR SEARCHCOILS
The searchcoil is a vital part of your metal detector. The type of searchcoil you should use is determined by what you're hunting and in what conditions.
Some Garrett metal detectorists claim that they just can’t miss! Richard from New Jersey wrote to the company to say that he works the Jersey shore with his metal detector every summer. “I always come away with some sort of find,” wrote Richard. “In over 80 trips to the beaches near my home I have never come home empty-handed. I always manage to find a coin, a ring or something with my Garrett metal detector. As for the coins, they always go to my four granddaughters’ piggy banks. I love metal detecting! Some people play the lottery and they lose time after time. My gains may be small but I never lose!”
Are detectors with a lot of knobs better than those with just a few?How much better is a $900 metal detector than a $200 metal detector?
Generally speaking, the higher the price of a metal detector, the more features that it will have. More features translate into more knobs. The more features and/or knobs that a detector has, the more you are able to tune the metal detector to the type of hunting conditions that you are likely to encounter. With that being said, the downside to a large number of features is that even though you are able to fine tune the detector to match the local conditions, there are also more ways of setting up the detector incorrectly. Setting up a machine "wrong" may result in a decrease in depth and sensitivity and your $900 metal detector may be outdone by a $200 model!
