Pit vipers, which include rattlesnakes, copperheads and water moccasins, can strike at a target up to two-thirds of their body length when provoked. Without immediate treatment, venomous snake bites can cause numbness and tingling, blurred vision, diarrhea, dizziness, sweating, fainting, loss of muscle coordination, nausea and vomiting, rapid pulse, swelling and weakness, convulsions, and sometimes death.
